While working as a wilderness guide in the national forest where her parents were killed twelve years earlier, seventeen yer old Kayla is powerfully drawn to Lucas, who she learns is her appointed guardian - and much more - as she discovers her true identity.
This book is the first book in the Dark Guardians series, and for all intense of purposes you can clearly see this through out the book, while you do feel as though you can a full story I also felt that it was building up for more to come in the future.
It is a quick read and you won't be left thinking about the book in much detail after you have read it but I do think it does deserve the read, while the story line is rather predictable and has a sorta love triangle in (which I normally hate in books) I found that it was a fun read.
The main plot line is predictable and we know that Kayla is a werewolf/shifter before she does, the summary on the back tells you that, and that she is attracted to Lucas, who by the way was my favourite character in the whole novel. There was just something about him that made you want to know more.
Overall it is a nice fun, easy read. That I would recommend. The other books in the series don't centre on Lucas and Kayla and centre on the other minor characters in the book which I think will make the series more likable.
